The question of the cause of partition’s violence is a vast historical matter, which has to take into account several groupings of people, categorised according to religion, caste, caste and political allegiances and different geographical entities at a number of moments in time. The Journey (copyright 1992) written by Ida Fink is a work of Holocaust literature about two Jewish sisters struggling to survive the persecution of the Jews in 1942 Poland. A SCRAP OF TIME AND OTHER STORIES (Skrawek czasu) Short Stories by Ida Fink, 1983. Partition novels celebrate the unique power of a culture to retain an awareness of loss in ways that emphasise the validity of secular spaces and the urgent need to revive them. Thematisations of the Partition in the genres of novels, short stories, drama, poetry, film, oral narratives, and formal history have all contributed to the new visibility of Partition. 13 years in the making, this 30000 motivational quote search engine can identify quotations by the name of the author, keyword, gender, general ethnicity. Memories of Partition are in circulation even today, not because of its continued communal manifestations but also owing to the literature inspired by the Partition. It was both a defining moment and a traumatic experience in history. People had to be uprooted either from India or from Pakistan although many decided to stay in their ancestral lands. The 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan led to the largest mass migration in human history.

The bike has a six-speed transmission and is probably one of the best-shifting cruisers I’ve ridden. Though the Storm doesn’t have ABS, Triumph says it will be an option on 2012 models. The dual front discs with four-piston calipers have good bite and stop the heavy bike quickly. In the twisty sections a light tap on the brake pedal got the bike to slow smoothly. Dual discs with four piston calipers haul the 745-pound Storm down quickly. The nonadjustable Showa fork has 4.7 inches of travel, and the Storm’s twin shocks have 3.7 inches and are five-position adjustable for preload only. The wide, dished seat doesn’t allow for a whole lot of fore- and-aft movement, though I was never crammed into the tank. As a lightweight I was bounced around by the bike’s stiff suspension on this road and frequently had to shift my rump back into place. The Storm’s 200-series rear tire, 63.5-inch wheelbase and 32-degree fork rake require some effort to change direction in tight turns, yet the bike can still be hustled along at a good pace. The bike’s stable feel and low center of gravity inspire confidence, as do the Metzeler Marathons that roll nicely over uneven pavement and stick well. There’s a lot of pull at low rpm, with no shortage of torque to power the Storm strongly out of slow-speed uphill turns. Moseying along past a 1890s ghost town with tall saguaro cacti on either side of the road, when I came to a series of tight turns my heel and foot were swept off the peg the first time I dove into a corner. With footpeg ticklers just 8.75 inches off the pavement, you’ll run out of cornering clearance before the Storm runs out of steam. This dark beauty was comfortable for a 400-plus mile day in the saddle. The Storm holds a strong line-lean ’er in, but not too far or the pegs will start scraping. With my longish legs I found the forward-mounted footpegs well placed (though they angle my heels downward), and that the drag-style bar keeps my shoulders relaxed and provides good leverage for pushing into turns. That’s partly due to its 745-pound wet weight, and also how its wide 5.8-gallon tank splays your knees out. My initial impression as I lifted the Storm off its sidestand was that this is one hefty cruiser. The arrow-straight lanes of Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Los Angeles aren’t exactly the crème de la crème of motorcycle roads, but those 443 miles home from the Storm’s introduction, plus many on the Apache Trail and in Arizona’s Yavapai Indian Reservation and Tonto National Forest, made for an excellent test. It also has distinctive twin headlamps like the infamous Speed and Street Triples, housed in black, of course, instead of chrome like the Thunderbird’s single beam. The black Storm gets the popular all-over dark treatment with blacked-out wheels, fork lowers, most of its covers, brake calipers, shock springs and even the risers on its new handlebar. We did hear a bit of what sounded like piston slap under hard throttle after several dyno runs, a noise we’ve noticed in a few super-sized twins now. On the Jett Tuning Dynojet dyno it cranked out 82.9 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 101 lb-ft of torque at 3,000, about a 10 percent improvement over our November 2009 Thunderbird test bike. Claimed horsepower at the Storm’s 270-degree crank is upped to 97 from 85, and the Storm has larger pistons and piston rings, revised camshafts, new cylinder liners and gaskets. The $13,899 Storm is otherwise based upon the $12,499 Thunderbird and its liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC engine with six-speed transmission and belt final drive. Covers have been blacked out to give the Storm an all-over dark treatment. Parallel twin engine is unique among sea of V-twin cruisers. So now there’s a choice of nice or naughty, with the mellower standard Thunderbird the calm before the Storm, so to speak. Triumph explains that it wanted to create a “carbon copy” of the cultured Thunderbird, albeit one with a more aggressive attitude that it’s betting will appeal to younger riders. This increases cylinder bore from 103.8mm to 107.1, adding 102cc to the powerplant for a ground-pounding total of 1,699cc. Was? For 2011 the U.K.-based company has pulled out the stops and made the Thunderbird’s formerly optional big-bore kit standard equipment in its new blacked-out Thunderbird Storm. At 1,597cc, the engine in its big Thunderbird was also the world’s largest production parallel-twin. Except for a couple of small entry-level bikes from other makers, the parallel twins in Triumph’s cruisers make them unique among the current parade of V-twins. The geometrical coordinates on the image plane R are denoted ( u, v). A plausible alternative to the adopted Fourier-optical formulation is Monte Carlo ray-tracing extended to model edge diffraction 23, though this remains outside the scope of the current study. The media of the object and image spaces are taken to be identical, therefore the nodal points and principal planes are coincident 22. In Fourier optics, a system of lenses and apertures can be reduced to corresponding entrance and exit pupils, wherein diffractive effects can be equivalently treated 21 the exit pupil is used throughout this paper. The characterization of a benchmark imaging system and the adopted experimental method are then described, with extensive comparisons between theoretical and experimental results. A Fourier optics formulation is first discussed, followed by a computational image prediction framework. This paper presents a rigorous framework for calculating the image of a scene viewed through an imaging system with arbitrary focus. Addressing this gap enables greater accuracy and generality in modelling the starburst effect, thereby enhancing its diverse applications, especially in image prediction on commercial imaging systems-such is the focus of our study. While predicting the corresponding image of a point-like object entails a calculation of the point-spread function (PSF), predictions for extended objects require a convolution of the PSF with the object field, significantly increasing the complexity of the problem. Outside of astronomy, however, limited attention has been placed on correctly predicting the images of extended objects on general apertures and focus, with the optical parameters and implicit image processing of the imaging system taken into account a lacuna in this discipline therefore remains. Simulation toolsets and methods are also available for astronomical imagery, encompassing light transport effects including weak gravitational lensing and Doppler shift 18, 19, 20. In astronomy, software modelling Bahtinov masks and spider-diffraction have been developed 16, and the reduction of diffractive effects on segmented mirrors is crucial for telescope design 17. Efforts have been made to render visually similar effects in image post-processing 6 and minimize diffraction artifacts in high dynamic range (HDR) photography 5. The suppression and intensification of the starburst effect have received much attention to date. In reflective telescopes, the support vanes of secondary mirrors result in a diffraction pattern similar to that formed by multiple intersecting slits 15. It is common for imaging systems at high f-numbers to have polygonal apertures-these admit high spatial frequency components along axes perpendicular to the polygonal edges 13, 14, hence forming the perceived spikes. A Fourier optics formulation is typically employed, where the diffraction-limited point spread function is given by the Fourier transform of the exit pupil shape. Often accompanied with lens flare 10, 11, the starburst effect arises due to the diffraction of light as it propagates past the limiting aperture of the imaging system 12. The phenomenon occurs on all light sources and affects a wide range of imaging systems, including photography 5, 6, 7, medical endoscopy 8, and telemetry acquisition systems 9, with higher-intensity sources yielding more prominent spikes. Diffraction spikes in telescope images of stars and other illuminated bodies 1, 2, 3 introduce uncertainties in luminosity-dependent measurements, but can be useful in localization techniques 4. These rays, known as diffraction spikes, are also observable by the naked human eye, usually at night. Captured images of light sources commonly exhibit the starburst effect, an optical phenomenon comprising apparent rays of light emanating from their centres. Iron is one of the essential nutrients that plants and lawns require to be healthy. It treats iron deficiencies and chlorosis while strengthening roots and increasing stress tolerance. The woman with newly acquired infection did not report any other recognized risk factors for HIV infection, and the viruses infecting the two women had ≥98% sequence identity in three genes. This report describes this case of HIV infection, likely acquired by female-to-female sexual transmission during the 6-month monogamous relationship of the HIV-discordant couple (one negative, one positive). The case was investigated, and laboratory testing confirmed that the woman with newly diagnosed HIV infection had a virus virtually identical to that of her female partner, who was diagnosed previously with HIV and who had stopped receiving antiretroviral treatment in 2010. In August 2012, the Houston Department of Health contacted CDC regarding the rare transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) likely by sexual contact between two women. "Settlement payments will be distributed as soon as possible if the court grants final approval of the settlement and after any appeals are resolved," it notes. If the settlement is approved, the case could still face appeals, which would take an unknown amount of time to be resolved, the website notes. The claims site notes that there is a final approval hearing for the settlement on September 7, when the court will decide whether to approve the deal and award attorneys' fees and other costs. However, the lawyers involved in the case are likely to take a portion of the settlement as part of their fees. That's unclear, because the settlement amount per user will depend on how many people fill out a claim, according to the settlement website.
